Rubik's Cube Solution
Step 1
Learn the Rubik's cube vocabulary; it has updated terms for the 3x3x3 Rubik's cube.
Step 2
The first thing to do is look for all of the orange edge pieces. Once you have found them you must put them in place. To do this position the edge piece directly beneath where it needs to go, the flip them so they are on the top face. Note: For this step you do not only have to put the edge pieces on the top face but the adjacent sticker should line up with the same center colour.
This is what your cube should look like: |
|
Note the adjacent sticker matching with the center sticker.
If you follow the steps to place the edge piece you may end up with this. | ![]() |
If this is the case use the algorithm Fi U Li Ui and it should be positioned correctly. |
Step 3
Once you have made the cross, the next step is to complete the orange face. To do this place the square beneath where it needs to go, in the bottom right hand corner, then use the algorithm Ri Di R D. Repeat this algorithm until the square is in the right place. Note: When you complete the top face, the first row on every side should correspond to the center piece.
Step 4
Now that the first face and layer are complete you have to complete the seconde layer. First, flip the cube so that the completed face is down. Next find an edge piece on the top face that does not have red in it. Line up the square so that the sticker that is not on top lines up with the same colour. Then figure out if it needs to go to the left or the right. If it needs to go to the right use the algorithm U R Ui Ri Ui Fi U F. If it needs to go to the left use Ui Li U L U F Ui Fi.
Step 5
Now the first face, and the first two layers should be complete. The next step is to get the cross on top ( red face). Should should either have just the red dot, a red L, a red line or the cross. You'll need to use the algorithm F R U Ri Ui F. The number of times you'll need to do this depends which pattern you have. If you have the dot you'll have to do it 3 times, the L is 2 and the line is 1. If you have the L hold the cube hold it so the L is in the top left corner. If you have the cross, hold the cube so that the line is horizontal.
Step 6
Now you should have completed the red cross. Now you have to line up the edge pieces with their corresponding colour. You should be able to line up at least to. Line up two corresponding colours with the appropriate side. Hold the cube so that the faces with the corresponding edges are in the right and back face, you may wind up having to position them in the front and back. Now you will have to use this algorithm either once or twice, this is the algorithm: R U Ri U R U U Ri U.
Step 6
Now the edge pieces should all correspond to the appropriate face. The next step is to place all of the corner pieces of the top face in the correct position, but not necessarily flipped the right way. To do this hold the cube so that one correctly positionned (but not necessarily flipped) in the bottom right corner of the up face, then use the algorithm U R Ui Li U Ri Ui L until the corner piecesare in the correct position.
Step 7
Now place hold the cube so that one unflipped piece is in the bottom right. Now use the algorithm Ri Di R D to flip it. Note: it seems like you are messing it up but ignore that and keep going. Now that you have flipped it, rotate JUST the up face to put another unflipped piece in the bottom right, then repeat Ri Di R D. Repeat this step until all 4 corner pieces are flipped the right way. Now you should be able to finish each face and complete the cube.
Congratulations you have solved the Rubik's cube!
